Yes, the gas engine does shut off at a stop, but we are talking about when you strictly run in electric mode only. Due to the limitations of power in the electric motor, the car can only go 44 mph on ELECTRIC ONLY. It sounds like you’re thinking that the car will all of a sudden limit itself to 44 mph in the city when driving normally.

Speed shouldn’t be limited in the city, you stop in going any way doesn’t make sense to regulate the speed in the vehicle. Car shuts off when your at a stop anyway.

I’m pretty sure speed is limited due to the batteries and electric motor, not the gas milage.

Not every Hybrid is speed regulated to get the mpg.

Oh, my bad. But most hybird cars limited to relatively low speeds on electric mode only, are they not? If you want higher speeds and greater range on electric only, then that’s what an electric car is for.

I was referring to the regulation on the 40 MPH in the city that’s how fast it goes, wasn’t talking about MPG..
